Never mind about caffeine. Sometimes all I really need is Beauty to say hello to on a Monday morning. Makes things just that little bit easier, with images of nature at your work desk.  Thanks for this Edward!

Sunday evening: Chicago at the Esplanade. Good Fun. Wish the set could have been better, some scenes could have been better choreographed… there was so much potential on the stage yet they chose to black it out with a huge and obtrusive music box of a stage set.

But Sharon Millerchip was something else. Roxie was some kind of awesome last night!

Here’s me being random, after a good dose of SATC:

It always begins with a fairytale: read – Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel; Prince Charming cutting a dashing figure in armour, dashing to your rescue with his gilted sword. No hesitation. Just plain heroic wit and a love blinding enough to fuel this kamikaze spirit against the monstrous dragon.

And then we grow up, and get realistic. Well maybe not really but enough to realise that Prince Charming is not really going to come marching in a chainsuit. But still a soft ear to your whims and fancies, and a heightened sensitivity to every bleeding insecurity and emotion you wish to throw yourself into. A Giving Tree.

And then we’re 25. And still, no sign. No huge spark. No anything.

So, look here, just what is a soulmate? And is there even one?

Does it really have to be a Prince Charming? Do we really need a cash machine cum emotional crutch in all the men we date?

Because at the end of the day, most of us have enough moolah to cash in on our weaknesses for clothes, bags, holidays, food younameit. We spend so much of our time working our asses off for it, it just feels better to be able to know we can depend on it whenever we need a little happy budget.

So I am thinking, yea why not have soulmates in girlfriends? How’s that? Carrie Bradshaw skipped to this tune. Think about it – People you’ve known for half of your life. Compared to Prince Charming who has just dashed in. Chivalry really pales in comparison to glove-tight understanding most of the time.

And then heartbreaks would be so much easier. Because with these new-old soulmates in your life, Prince Charming-s would really just make for characters for play and nothing more. And moving on to your next soulmate would be so much easier.

But I admit it’d be hard to give up that little girl in all of us who loves to dream big. I mean look, Stephanie Meyer is still fantasising about teenage hearthrob vampires even though she must be 40 and is married with kids. So maybe I’ll have a better think about this when I am 35.

Can’t wait!

I don’t know about you, but isn’t this the best Universal Studios attraction ever?! I know I haven’t seen it but here’s another reason for me to fly up to Florida even though I balk at the thought of rollercoasters. I could get lost in this for days I think.

JK Rowling is really some phenomenon huh? It must be something, to be able to have people turn your ideas into a reality for the rest of the world. And better yet, know that you gave fodder to the dreams of millions of kids you’ll never know.

And overgrown teenyboppers like me who will never get sick of the things that followed me through my tweens. Accio Hogwarts! Now where’s that portkey?
